Today’s Ride to Mosque comes to us from Shayda, who writes:
My name is Shayda, and I am half Iranian and half American. I am very proud of my Iranian heritage and got to experience it for myself two years ago. I wanted to go back recently, but due to school, and crazy times, I wasn’t able to go. Hopefully next summer, I may say otherwise, and also have better knowledge of Farsi whenever I go. Anywho! Heather noticed my pictures from my trip two years ago and asked that I do a guest post about my “Ride to Mosque.” For those of you who do not know, Muslims attend a mosque instead of a church. From what I noticed, mosques are more for prayer. I only got outside pictures of the mosques there, but hopefully I can get more inside on my next trip. The carvings on the marble and all of the designs were done directly by hand. That is why everything is so significant on the outside of mosques.
If any of you have a chance to visit one, I would suggest it. It’s probably one of the most beautiful and intricate places you will ever see in your life. Islam is really a beautiful religion and teaches many neat lifestyles and traditions that many people have and don’t even realize it. I hope you enjoy my photos! :)

Beautiful pictures! I would love to get a picture of the statue in Presidential Park in Tehran of a Woman in a chaddor(sp) holding her chubby baby. I keep dreaming of going back to Iran just to get a picture of that! Mosques are so beautiful. Thank you for the reminder.
