Mountain Shepherd
The boy and his sheep
wander in search of shelter
from the storm brewing
beyond the squat mountains.
The boy leads his flock
to an abandoned barn
on the edge of a river
where they graze.
He keeps watch for wolves
beneath the fading sunlight
and is soothed by the soft bleating.
When the sheep have had their fill
they come into the barn
and surround his tired body.
