I spent the first two weeks of 2012 in Costa Rica with 18 female undergraduate students from my university. It was a fascinating trip in so many ways. I’ve never been to Costa Rica before, so that was amazing. And it was also really weird to be in another country and away from my family and disconnected from my phone/computer for so long. And, of course, it was interesting to see how the students reacted to being in a new environment.
We left on a Sunday and spent the whole day traveling and the next Sunday, we were traveling as well, so I didn’t get to go to a Mormon church which I would have loved to do. Brent and I have spent about 7-8 years of our married lives together attending church in Spanish-speaking congregations, so I would have enjoyed that immensely. So I don’t have any rides to Mormon churches to share with you, but I have a few bus rides/walks to churches in a couple places in Costa Rica that I’ll share.
The second Sunday of my trip, we took a very long bus ride to a little town called La Fortuna, where the Arenal volcano is located. Come see what our ride/walk looked like.
Love the little grasshopper your driver made. Great pictures!
Synneve, I carted that little grasshopper all over Costa Rica–trying desperately to keep it from being crushed in my backpack while hiking, etc. I made it home with it intact, but it turned brown. I haven’t thrown it away yet because I loved it too much.
And Synneve–just imagine the awesome ride to church you can do for me after going to Ecuador!!! ;)
The flowers and birds in Costa Rica are beautiful. Thanks!
Truly beautiful. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
Very jealous. Spent three days at Los Logos, a resort outside of La Fortuna, and never saw the top of Arenal.
