Today’s Ride to Church comes to us from my very smart and beautiful 16-year-old niece, Synneve. This post has been all queued up and ready to go for a couple weeks–long before Hurricane Irene was on the horizon. So I decided to run it today so we can all send prayers/positive vibes towards the East Coast on this Sunday.
She writes:
Two weeks ago my family and I (two parents, five daughters) took a trip to New York, where we did nearly everything imaginable there in four days-from walking the Brooklyn Bridge to touring an old tenement where immigrants fresh from Ellis Island came to live. Sunday, we put on our walking shoes and headed from the guesthouse where we stayed in Manhattan to Queens to attend church with some good friends that live in the area. Here are some of the sights on our Ride to Church.
Love the pics, Synneve–especially the signage on the Community Church!
What a talented photographer you are, Synneve! You really let the viewer share your experience. Keep clicking, you know how to tell a story! Aunt Marilyn
Delightful! Thanks for giving me a lift this morning!
Thanks Heather and Aunt Marilyn! I had a great time taking these; I’d love to do another Ride to Church soon.
I love that the church was the Bulova School of Watchmaking! What cool details you captured.
@Claire, I know, right? Have never even thought that there might have been schools for watchmaking. ;)
Very nice job….My grandfather was missionary in NY in 1920 or so….You got me wondering where they met. I wish I could post his ride to church next to yours. Thanks for sharing.
Fabulous!
love it!
Some great photos of from the ride to church! Was it the families first visit to New York City? We hope the kids enjoyed their stay and adventuring. Thanks for sending the love our way during Hurricane Irene…it certainly did help!
