Ahhh. Warms the cockles of me ‘art. :)
your practice of passivity proves precisely why proof readers ought to preview your pronouncements
Brilliant! Neal, you always had that twang of brilliance goin’ for ya. But your books are nigh unreadable.
I love passive voice, properly used. It’s quite appropriate when the important thing is the receiver of the action, rather than the actor, and can also be useful for sentence variety. Passive voice needs to be preserved from the war declared on it by well-meaning English teachers. It has been a part of language going back to proto-Indoeuropean for a reason, and eliminating it for a temporary usage fad is a bad idea.
You go, Pres. Monson!
Blain is a passive voice fanboy. :D
Hmmm, last night I listened to my husband help my son with his upcoming visual presentation at school. His advice? “Talk just like the Slap Chop guy! ” Tom, have you ever seen the Slap Chop guy?
Haha — this is my favorite, so far!
Shouldn’t that be (just this once) “Passive voice is liked by Thomas S. Monson”? ;)
Thanks for these! I love them!
Ha! Hilarious, Ziff.
Oh Ziff, the same thing was thought by me, but you were faster.
