When She Prayed
I heard the angels’ joyous song
An ancient temple’s brassy gong
Bagpipes, trombones sang along
When she prayed
Cool wind blew in from the door
Tiny sparrows formed a choir
And built a halo in my hair
When she prayed
The withered tree grew a fig
My daughters danced an Irish jig
With a baby flying pig
When she prayed
A deaf mute opened up and spoke
A newborn told a knock knock joke
My water changed to Diet Coke
When she prayed
Glaciers swept the mountains down
Meteors flattened Satan’s town
Green Jell-O turned mousse-y brown
When she prayed
The house cleaned itself, lunch was made,
Blueberry crêpes with lemonade
Diapers lightened, dogs stayed
When she prayed
An elder gave a hearty snort
And [flash bang] he was turned to salt
Everyone agreed-his fault
When she prayed

Dayna immensely enjoyed watching a woman pray for the first time at General Conference. She grabbed her daughters so they could watch, too.

Love it – especially when the elder turned to salt!
Adorable! Love it! sounds like a Mormon feminist Shel Silverstein.
Wow, J.a.t. That’s the nicest thing you could possibly say. Super flattered. I adore Silverstein!
Love it!
Doubtless some of the satiric detail went over my head, since am not in the culture. But I did get a wierd image in my mind at one point of a sparrow dung halo. I did enjoy it Dayna. And may you win your largely untrumpeted Mormon feminist battle.
